Show your school spirit by buying your golf-style shirts from your alma mater. Local Cougar fans can come to the University book store for a nice selection of U of H logo shirts, socks and golf accessories. Most of the pants and shorts sold here won’t meet the requirements at private clubs, but a red polo style shirt by Nike from the bookstore paired with some of your own khaki pants and you’re ready to hit the links. For cooler weather, the $40 graphite colored jacket emblazoned with ‘Houston’ will tell the world where you call home.

Here’s a little known secret about golf club repair in Houston. The Sport Shoppe has a client list of about 50 other golf stores and country clubs. When you take your broken clubs there, they end up here for the expert restoration work owner Gene Mitchell and his talented staff have been providing since 1990. In fact, everything about this fascinating store is aimed at reclaiming, repairing and honoring the game of golf. Except for the repair parts, there is nothing new in the shop, and that goes for their golf clothing, too. Golfers who have moved up in size, like a different color or who have retired their clubs come to The Sport Shoppe and placed their used golf gear in Gene’s shop for a second chance with a new golfer. Clothing in this category starts around $10 and goes up in price, depending on the piece.Related: Best Bargain Hunting in Houston
